Type 4 secretion system in Clostridioides difficile: Structural features and its role as a pathogenicity factor

چکیده
Clostridioides difficile is a gram-positive microorganism causing damage to the human intestinal wall, clinically manifesting as antibiotic-associated diarrhea and pseudomembranous colitis. C. infection remains serious problem; increasing frequency of nosocomial outbreaks emergence community-acquired forms heighten need for new prevention treatment methods. The pathogenesis associated with toxins produced by bacteria large group proteins promoting replication pathogen in host tissues its spread population. Recent studies show that mobile genetic elements play key role high virulence difficile. Type 4 secretion systems (T4SS) are significant components these elements; their impressive diversity among microorganisms general difficile, particular, implies evolutionary and, consequently, medical significance. Further T4SS composition structure will provide deeper insight into mechanisms underlying development respective infections help outline pathogenically grounded approaches diseases caused On other hand, machinery can be used bioinformatic analysis searching adaptive clusters genome highly virulent strains.

Clostridioides difficile 630Δerm in silico and in vivo – quantitative growth and extensive polysaccharide secretion
Antibiotic-associated infections with Clostridioides difficile are a severe and often lethal risk for hospitalized patients, and can also affect populations without these classical risk factors. For a rational design of therapeutical concepts, a better knowledge of the metabolism of the pathogen is crucial. Metabolic modeling can provide a simulation of quantitative growth and usage of metaboli...
متن کاملType II secretion in Yersinia—a secretion system for pathogenicity and environmental fitness
In Yersinia species, type III secretion (T3S) is the most prominent and best studied secretion system and a hallmark for the infection process of pathogenic Yersinia species. Type II secretion (T2S), on the other hand, is less well-characterized, although all Yersinia species, pathogenic as well as non-pathogenic, possess one or even two T2S systems. The only Yersinia strain in which T2S has so...
متن کاملType III secretion: a virulence factor delivery system essential for the pathogenicity of Burkholderia mallei.
By creating mutations in the Burkholderia mallei ATCC 23344 animal pathogen-like type III secretion system (TTSS), this study analyzes the correlation between type III secretion and the pathogenicity of ATCC 23344 in vivo. Mutagenesis demonstrated that a functional TTSS was required for the full pathogenicity of ATCC 23344 in the BALB/c mouse and Syrian hamster models of infection. However, vac...
متن کاملThe Salmonella pathogenicity island-1 type III secretion system.
Salmonella pathogenicity island 1 (SPI1) encodes a type III secretion system that is required for virulence during the intestinal phase of infection. The expression of SPI1 genes is controlled by many global regulatory pathways that affect the expression/activity of transcriptional regulators encoded on SPI1.
